In November 2005 during Junior World Championship in Greece Jola Zawadzka became the World Chamipon among the girl under 18

In the middle of November on Creta Island in Heraklion had gathered the young chessplayers from all over the world to fight for champions titles. Lower Silesia were represented by young grandmaster, thr player of club MUKS MDK Srodmiescie - Jolanta Zawadzka, who played in group of young girls under 18th

The performance of small Polish team we can recognize as the best succes of polish junior chess ever. Befor start we had estimated, that we can gain one or two medals, and every gold medal would be a great achivement. The tournament appeard to be difficult, two days with double games and load of long games plaeyed with undertime of both players.  The first reason for us to be proud was that Klaudia Kulon two games before the end of tournament was sure to be first in her group. Radoslaw Wojtaszek was the main candidat for wining, but after loosing in second game had to  perform really good to catch his opponents. In last  game he managed to win equal position and this brought him gold medal.

Jola Zawadzka had the most dramatic fight for gold medal was . Before the last game she nad one point less then leaders, and whatsmore - she was playing wiyh one of them - with the strong French grandamster Marie Sebag (ELO 2428). Jola has won this game and she was sure, so as her couch,  her frends and family that she gained bronze medal. Ater a while her couch Mkihail Kislov though that maybe there is other way of calculating the standings. Everybody had sstarted looking for regulations. Meanwhile Jola went to the game hall wher final standings were already published  - she was first!

Congratulations to all players, couches and all team for sucha good results and great team spirit during championships.
